UVM Cancer Center SciArt Initiative

SciArt (Science Art) has emerged across the country to make science accessible through the creative world of art. A collaboration between the University of Vermont Cancer Center (UVMCC) and the School of the Arts, this project resulted in the creation of 30 SciArt pieces that were inspired by the research and clinical care conducted at UVMCC and beautifully created by undergraduate painting students in Pamela Fraser’s Public Painting Projects course. The goal of the project was to generate inspiring art pieces that would encourage viewer engagement with science. The pieces were displayed in UVMCC clinics in Burlington, Barre, and Plattsburgh prior to the closing reception, using art to bridge the clinical and research components of the Cancer Center. In addition, the pieces are included in this virtual art exhibit in which users can view the art and inspirational science images together.
