UVMers hungry for a good guitar riff know Nectar’s as the place to go downtown for “fresh music served daily.” And most alumni of the past 40 years know that the Burlington-born jam band Phish honed their style in the neon glow of the revolving red Nectar’s sign. But only you know what went down that one night before exam week senior year—one too many gravy fries? The Main Street mainstay has served as both a proving ground and a launch pad to national fame for Vermont bands since 1975. You may have shaken a leg to local groups like Belizbeha, Strangefolk, Grace Potter & the Nocturnals, or Kat Wright & the Indomitable Soul Band before they hit the big time. Or perhaps you tapped your toes to swinging jazz standards at the building’s previous occupant, the Hi-Hat.

Share your Nectar’s memories with us (it’s ok if they’re a little foggy) at impact@uvm.edu.
