University of Vermont Foundation Annual Report

Dear friends of UVM,

Just over ten years ago, a brave group of University of Vermont alumni and administrators sat down together and launched the University of Vermont Foundation. In doing so, they signaled UVM’s intent to greatly enhance its fundraising and alumni relations programming. To say that the endeavor has been successful is an understatement of mountainous proportions. In the ten years prior to the Foundation’s launch, UVM donors gave an average of $29 million in support each year. In the first ten years of the Foundation, donors have more than doubled that annual average to $65 million. And the long-term impact of this decade of giving will be truly enormous for the University. The UVM Foundation has helped donors create over 330 new permanently endowed funds that will provide steady, continuous resources to the University in perpetuity. But thanks to our volunteers, the UVM Foundation’s benefit to UVM and the University of Vermont Medical Center goes far beyond these extraordinary dollar figures. Their vision and service has helped build the Foundation as a companion and friend for these organizations. Through thick and thin, come what may, the UVM Foundation will always be a critical partner for students, patients, faculty, and staff. The strength of this partnership allows UVM and the UVM Medical Center to dream bigger than ever before. The UVM Foundation is as strong and healthy as ever. In the year ahead, our team will remain focused on building meaningful, lasting relationships with alumni and donors, ever striving to fulfill our mission to offer as much support as we can to the University, no matter the climate or circumstances. Two key areas of priority will be the Soar campaign for student success (which is raising $150 million for undergraduate scholarships, graduate fellowships, and internships) and a new campaign that will expand the impact of the University’s outstanding research programs. Everyone here at the UVM Foundation is proud to partner with alumni and friends to elevate the University of Vermont to ever great heights. We are profoundly grateful for each of our donors, volunteers, and advocates—everything you do for UVM makes a difference for the people on this campus and for the communities near and far who will benefit from what they learn and discover here.
